(2010-2021) 5th Gen 4Runner Bolt-On Rock Sliders with Kicker
Defending the most vulnerable areas of your 4Runner, BudBuilt sliders are engineered to protect both rocker panel and frame alike. As with all BudBuilt products, our sliders are CAD designed by mechanical engineers, with specialties in material science and failure analysis. Combining formal education with decades of engineering and hard-core rock crawling experience, BudBuilt has the proven edge to make products the best they can be.
BudBuilt sliders begin with the strongest foundation in the industry, 3/8" thick, that runs the full height of the frame rail. This foundation works in conjunction with factory welded captive nuts inside of the frame rail to
appropriately move stress up and down the frame rail during impact

We have seen too many frames buckled inward from other sliders that do not distribute the 4Runner's crushing load appropriately.
Four (4) 1.75" OD steel legs with additional reinforcing gussets solidly mount the frame plate to the main tube. We chose this design for its superior strength qualities over three (3) leg designs, regardless of whether round or square tubing is used. Our main tube is constructed of 2" OD steel tube, providing a rock solid, smooth sliding surface. The 2" OD round main tube is far strong enough to support the full weight of the 4Runner under lifting situations, and provides an additional 1" of ground clearance as opposed to 3"x 2" rectangular tubing. Angled 20° upward from the main tube, the outer tube is constructed of 1.75" OD steel tube with smooth angles to stand up to constant abuse and not hang up on rocks. Three (3) additional reinforcement 1.5" OD steel tube legs tie the main and outer tubes together, creating a total of six (6) connecting points. This design further increases rigidity and strength across the entire slider. Total distance from the 4Runner's frame to the outer tube is 15.5".
Our kicker design is accomplished by forming the outer tube to smoothly add 2" of additional protection to the rear of the slider. When driving on tight and narrow trails, the kicker greatly reduces fender impacts from rocks and trees by either kicking the 4Runner away from danger, or preventing the 4Runner from getting too close to an obstacle to begin with. BudBuilt's kicker, combined with our 20º upward angle, provides massive ground clearance and protection where you need it most. From the 4Runner's frame to the furthest point on the kicker is 17.5".

From the factory, 5th generation 4Runner SR5 and Limited models are sold with one piece plastic rocker panels and side steps. When installing BudBuild sliders, the factory side step will need to be either trimmed or replaced with a Trail edition plastic rocker panel.
5th generation 4Runner Trail and Pro models do not require any trimming or replacement of the plastic rocker panels. Simply bolt on and go
Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) - 94
pounds (43kg) per pair (2) with no fill plates. Add 24 pounds for Full Fill Dimple Die Tread Plates. Add 28 pounds for Full Fill Smooth and Diamond Tread Plates.
Recommended for use in rock crawling applications, where hard impacts from the sharp edges of a rock is likely to occur. DOM offers off-roaders and overlanders a better "dent resistant" metal process as compared to HREW.
Technically, DOM is not a type of steel tube, but rather the process in which the tube is finished. It is considered a high quality tube. The first stages of manufacturing are identical to ones used to make HREW tube, but in the finishing stages, the entire flash weld is removed and the tube is cold drawn over a mandrel. The cold drawn process provides the tube with better dimensional tolerances, improved surface finish and the strongest weld strength achievable.

Absolute strength for hard-core, leave nothing back, rock bashing. If you want an overly built, able to handle Rubicon level rock sliders, get our .120 DOM sliders. If you have zero
regard
for the cosmetic or mechanical condition of your 4Runner, then .188 DOM might be for you. Don't think that .188 DOM is better. It is just better for some drivers. It adds weight, and unless you plan on jumping your truck into a rock garden, then it could be a waste of increased weight. That said, our .188 DOM sliders come with a lifetime guarantee against bending and denting of the tubing. The fill plate is not covered under the lifetime
warranty.

Dimple Die Up
Dimple Die Up is our modern take on diamond plate. Evenly spaced 2" laser cut holes are individually pressed to giving dimension and purpose. Once orientated up, form joins function, and the pressed edges offer a high traction step surface.
Dimple Die Down
Dimple Die Down offers modern, aggressive styling. Evenly spaced 2" laser cut holes are individually pressed to giving dimension and purpose. Once orientated down, this fill plate offers a unique, race inspired form.
