(2010-2017) 5th Gen 4Runner Step Sliders

With a 0° offset outer tube, our Step Sliders offers a superb entry and exit step for the driver and passengers, while offering the incredible strength and protection of a true BudBuilt rock slider.

Defending the most vulnerable areas of your 4Runner, BudBuilt sliders are engineered to protect both rocker panel and frame alike. As with all BudBuilt products, our sliders are CAD designed by mechanical engineers, with specialties in material science and failure analysis. Combining formal education with decades of engineering and hard-core rock crawling experience, BudBuilt has the proven edge to make products the best they can be.

Designing a true rock slider for the 5th generation 4Runner with optional KDSS created a unique set of challenges. Limited frame rail space, tight body and frame orientation, and limited fastener locations all reduce strength of a traditional slider. But we love a challenge.

Our sliders begin with a rock solid foundation, 1/4" thick, full frame height plate with a 90° lower frame rail design that bolts to existing frame captive nuts with grade 10.9 M8 hardware. 90° frame plates are only as good as the engineer who designed them. Traditionally, the slot style holes on the bottom of the frame plate, allow for slip when the rock slider is holding the weight of the 4Runner. Our attention to detail along with precision CAD designed and Laser cut frame plates give BudBuilt the edge to keep tolerances extremely tight, and greatly reducing movement between the 4Runner's frame and our frame plates.

Building on our frame plates, four (4) 1.75" .120 steel legs with additional reinforcing gussets solidly mount the frame plate to the main tube. Our main tube is constructed of 2" .120 steel tube, providing a rock solid, smooth sliding surface, as well as maximizing ground clearance under your low hanging rocker panel. Continuing from the main tube, the outer tube is constructed of 1.75" .120 steel tube with smooth angles to stand up to constant abuse and not hang up on rocks. Four (4) additional reinforcement 1.5" .120 steel tube legs tie the main and outer tubes together, creating a total of six (6) connecting points. This design further increases rigidity and strength across the entire slider. Total distance from the 4Runner's frame to the outer tube is 16".

  • BudBuilt sliders are designed and manufactured in house from pure American steel. We will never use lower grade Chinese or Indian raw materials

Fitment FAQs:
From the factory, 5th generation 4Runner SR5 and Limited models are sold with one piece plastic rocker panels and side steps. When installing BudBuild sliders, the factory side step will need to be either trimmed or replaced with a Trail edition plastic rocker panel.

5th generation 4Runner Trail and Pro models do not require any trimming or replacement of the plastic rocker panels. Simply bolt on and go.

•These work with Trail Edition models.

•Installation for SR5 and Limited Edition will require you to remove or trim your rocker panels.

•The Straight Regular sliders weigh 50 pounds each for a total of 100 pounds for the set. Tread plating adds 5 pounds for partial and 10 pounds for full tread to each slider.

•ALL SLIDERS ARE SOLD IN PAIRS (2).
